This had some wonderful bits, but at times I felt like I was slogging in the mud, wondering where I was going. The back and forth between first person and third person telling was a little weird. Despite the tragedies of life, compounded by the Depression, and the prejudice of the times, the author ...

While I can't say that I loved this book, it was the perfect thing for my sleepless night. Oh, the joys of insomnia - at least I can get some reading done in the quiet of the wee hours.Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons reminds me of reality tv...the trainwreck crazy stories you can't stop watching. ...

This was not the 'light' easy read that I had expected. It brought out so much melencholly in me that I found myself tearing up many times throughout the book. So when my reading pal picked it for me to read, I was happy to read a "fluff" piece in between some of the more meaty books on my to read list. Boy was I wrong. The only thing "fluffy about this book ...

I read this because a friend did for her book club and said it was good. I really liked it and enjoyed the different characters and their individual plot lines. I did have a bit of trouble remembering who was who in the beginning, but then felt like I knew them all.

Way too many characters. I feel that I barely got to know anyone and in a way, they feel too perfect even with their quirks / flaws. I think that's because I barely got to know any...I don't like the final twists. I could've done without them.

Loved this book! I have never even heard of Lorna Landvik but after reading this wonderful book, I'm going to look up some of her others. This was a beautiful story of friendship, family, love and experiences which all become intertwined over a life time. Great book!
