It happened again. I fell in love with another book by Shaun Tan. The book I'm talking about is Lost & Found and it's absolutely fabulous. There are 3 short stories collected in this book: The Red Tree, Lost & Found, and The Rabbits. As with the other books by Tan, there is a fabulous mix of fantasy...

Have I ever mention how much I love Shaun Tan? Because I love him. I've read two other books before this one and loved them. Lost & Found is no exception. I adore this book! Everything about it. From the three stories within to the gorgeous, unique art style, there isn't a thing I don't love about t...

I like the range of stories in Lost & Found. The Rabbits has a large scope, sweeping over years of Australia's history in a few pages but managing to stay poignant. I think it would be more poignant if it were a story from a Indigenous/Aboriginal Australian, but "and stole our children" gets me ever...

This was freakin fantastic. The simplicity of the text coupled with the dark and melancholic illustrations made for a profound read.

This is a beautiful book, full of wonder, but not completely wonderful. The artwork is spectacular and the stories are better-than-adequate. But I see this as a bittersweet collection. The stories end on a hopeful note, but if you're on meds, you may want to dose up before diving in. Not that the st...

Three picture books are included in this volume so I will review them separately but overall the book is breathtaking. Although all three books are illustrated with wondrous, inventive, and unrecognizable things like The Arrival, they are the perfect illustrations for the metaphorical tales they are...

Tan's work is distinctive and melencholy. "The Red Tree" is sad, but hopeful, about a lonely girl. "The Lost Thing" is found, but where should it live? "The Rabbits", written by John Marsden, is a powerful allegory of European settlers in Australia.Library copy
