Lourdes Urrea was born the 17th of July 1954 on the Pacific coast of Mexico, in the city of Mazatlan. Her father had taught her how to read by age four, using a system with the capital letters in a newspaper. When her neighbors' children went to school each morning, little Lourdes would cry, for she wanted so badly to go to school too. Finally, when she became five, her mother convinced the principal of the school to accept Lourdes in first grade after she showed him how well she could read. She wrote her first poems at age twelve, and her first thriller when she was sixteen years old. Nowadays, with more than 28 books written, Lourdes Urrea is recognized as a voice that combines suspense, history, geography, humor and a tad of romance in a recipe that makes each one of her titles not only fun and thrilling, but also a book for the whole family.
