From the award-winning New York Times bestselling author of Still Alice and Left Neglected, comes a heartfelt novel about an accidental friendship that gives a grieving mother a priceless gift: the ability to understand the thoughts of her eight-year-old autistic son and make sense of his brief life...
"We have pills for headaches. We have antidepressants for sadness. We have God for believers. We have nothing for autism." Talk about a fast read. Really once you start reading you don't even realize how much you've read until your looking at the clock saying "yikes, I've got to get some sleep." ...
After reading Still Alice, I came into Love Anthony expecting a similar story, told in the perspective of someone with an expert knowledge of autism (or at least as expert as anyone can be). Instead I was surprised to find that Love Anthony was purely a literary novel. I'm happy to report that even ...
3.5 stars. Good but not great and definitely not a patch on Still Alice, which I read earlier this year. It was a bit patchy and a little unbelievable. Having said that, I do enjoy Lisa's writing style and will definitely read more of her work.
Another good book by Lisa Genova. Once you start you'll want to finish it as soon as you can.Love Anthony tells the story of Olivia, whose eight-year-old autistic son has passed away. She comes to Nantucket to find some answers to questions that have been nagging at her about Anthony. "Why my son?" ...
Review first published on my blog: http://memoriesfrombooks.blogspot.com/2012/12/love-anthony.htmlLisa Genova holds PhD in neuroscience from Harvard University. Her fiction novels are inspired by neuroscience and its impact on our lives. Her first book, Still Alice, dealt with Alzheimers. Her second...
I loved this book. It is beautifully written. It was a powerfully emotional book. I didn't want to put it down. I would read this again and I can't say that about very many books. It is definately a keeper.

On the back of the book is a quote from Jodi Picoult, “Remember how you couldn...
I was SO excited to read this book, possibly a little too excited. I'd seen an endless string of five star reviews on Goodreads, and so I ordered a copy on Chapters without even reading the summary. If it's Lisa Genova, it's gotta be awesome, right? I devoured both Still Alice and Left Neglected,...
Genova went completely round the bend with this one. Most of the book is trashy chick lit. And the end is just cheesy. I mean one big cheese puff. We find out that the 'ghost' of Anthony(the autistic boy) has been telling the aspiring novelist what to put in her book so that it will be about him. A...
