Both these books were bought for me by a friend as she knows i am a hopeless romantic. Some of the letters were very sweet, others i felt were a little dry and a few even made me laugh. Out of both books my favourite letters were from Napoleon Bonaparte to his wife Josephine.
I thought this would be more romantic and maybe have a few poems and actual letters instead it's actually more full of sonnets and I found I had most of the older 'classic' ones like John Donne in other poetry books so this wasn't much of a success for me.Future note to self next time check this out...
Upon reading these beautifully constructed letters, I couldn't help but to think that they were in fact letters, private letters, never intended for the public eye. That is undoubtedly what make them so utterly captivating, as you get to see a different and unexpected side of the great and famous me...
