This was a beautiful story about a girl name Clare and a young woman named Cornelia and how they came together. Very reminiscent of Secret Life of Bees by Margaret Kidd. Those who liked it will get a similar story of a girl finding her way and then finding a family outside the traditional sense. Thr...

May I say that I'm confused? This is chick-lit? Seriously? Wow, well I guess that the time has changed (or my vision of the chick-lit is wrong). Let's get back to the book, shall we? So I won't write classical review I'll just say that people who like long descriptions and realistic stories should r...

Not as good as her novel "Beong to Me" but still a good read. You definitely get wrapped up in the characters and realize the breadth of love that one person can hold. The continual references to movies were a bit much and took away from the plot a bit, but I can see what the author was trying to ...

Maybe not quite a "four", but it was at least a notch above average. The author created characters that I cared about and for whom I wanted a happy ending, even though "chick lit" is not really my "thing." The main character, Cornelia, starts out as a thirty-something educated woman with some not ve...

Awesome! I know, I know… it is such an overrated word, but it honestly does apply in this case. The writing is lyrical.. In the best sense of the word. Everything out of their mouths, so descriptive. In fact, pages one through fifty were a challenge. Getting used to the way things were said, Corneli...

Book club book! Review later. I really enjoyed this novel. Classic oldies movie/movie star references aside, Cornelia can be respected and understood. She's honest, up front, and likeable, but we got the point about Cary Grant and black and white movies! Her relationships with Martin and Clare aren'...

I wanted to love this book but I just couldn't. There were parts that just talked to me and I adore Clare and Cornelia, but there was just something about the story that just didn't work for me.

Things I liked about this book: - It was set in Philadelphia.- The main character was old fashioned and fond of old timey things.- Cornelia was in love with Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant. Who wouldn't be? - I liked Clare a lot.Things I didn't like about this book- Everything about Cornelia was to...

I read this book several years ago and will be honest that I can't remember why I gave it 5 stars. I don't remember it as being very memorable to me..in fact, at this time, I really don't even remember the story line and it wasn't that long ago that I read it.

As in her other book,Belong to Me A Novel, Marisa De Loa Santos builds great characters that you cannot help but admire and love. Her writing style is fantastic and very easy to read. I really hope she continues to write novels and not just poetry. I am really looking forward to reading more from t...
