This was an interesting reading experience because I was not familiar with the source material for this book, the fairy tale "The White Bride and the Black Bride." So I pulled out my trusty The Complete Fairy Tales of Brothers Grimm, Volume 1 and read it right before venturing in to this novel. (Rea...

As much as I enjoyed reading this book, I still felt it was missing something. While it was very similar to the cartoon movie, I'm not to sure that was the problem. Most everyone knows the story of the Russian princess who might have escaped the murder of the Romanov family. Nadya, doesn't remember a...

I really liked this book. It was very sweet and moving. The Rose Bride is a bit of the Cinderella fairy tale, and The Beauty and the Beast fairy tale with magic, sorcery and shape shifting mixed together. The main character is Rose who is the "Cinderella" and the one who is changed into an animal wh...

I have read 2 books so far of this series. I liked those, they were wonderful. Sadly this book isn't. It starts off great, and then dies and becomes cliché upon cliché.

This wasn't as good as the author's other retellings, but it was still good.I haven't read the original story of The Arabian Nights, but I've read another retelling of it in [b:Girl...

Mediocre mashup of Arthurian legend and Grimm. Too much telling, not enough showing, convenient magic, instalove, and irritatingly swoony princesses.

My favorite of the Once Upon a Time series, Dokey weaves many tales into one main story creating a highly enjoyable experience for readers. Told in an old style narrative, readers are instantly enchanted by the first line all the way to the last. A quick, easy read The Storyteller's Daughter is perf...
