This is a delightful turn of the century Christian novel. The history of the old time summer activities was wonderful, a slice of good fun. While I enjoyed the book I would have enjoy more dimensionality in the characters, especially the antagonist.
I didn't really enjoy this book. It was slow to get into, the heroine was flighty and seemed to be completely unchaperoned (which just didn't seem right for a 'lady' in 1895) and the male characters were cardboard cut-outs. It improved, but IMO, it was just OK, and not one I am likely to re-read. ...
