Very excellent Captain Marvel story where she comes to terms with some of her back history and some of the issues that that has affected her from her past. I liked it and would like to read more by the author and more about this character.
There were no surprises in Gatlin County. We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere. At least, that's what I thought.Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong. There was a curse. There was a girl. And in the end, there was a grave.Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town...
I saw the movie years ago and when I learned it was based on a book, I immediately ordered the series... And then it sat on my shelf for years. [I really need to stop buying books and read the ones I own. Anyway, I pulled this out for Halloween Bingo as my "Southern Gothic" square. And man you d...
I received a copy from Netgalley. I was really looking forward to this one. I’m actually not interested in reality television. (With the exception of Judge Judy and court TV) I pretty much loathe the type of reality TV this book is based on. But I do actually like novels about reality TV. Unfor...
Challenging take on some of the darker characters of the franchise, and kudos to the authors for not reaching too much for redemption... but not a super inspiring read, either. Pretty quick, reasonably high tension, but I just didn't care that much about the characters, unfortunately.
Sorta stupid. Russian got really messed up in the book. The author didn't even bother to understand what patronimics are and how they are used. Not my regular cup of tea but fun nonetheless.Q:“People are shooting at us?” Alex was in shock. “At a fencing tournament?”(c)Q:“If you hadn’t noticed, I was...

Rags & Bones is billed as a book of "New Twists on Timeless Tales", which, silly me, I thought would mean a book of fairytale retellings. (I love fairytale retellings, especially because I'm on a Once Upon A Time kick at the moment.) Although there are a couple of fairytales covered - "Sleeping Beau...
