Her work has been translated into 19 languages. She received her MFA from the New School in 2005. I like to walk around my kitchen, drink, think, listen to music, record my own voice saying the lines that one day I'll put down on paper or on my computer--whichever mood strikes me.Music is really important to me when I'm starting a new book. It can give me mood and place and feeling and motivation. Just to keep things simple I'll put this bio in real-time and tell you what I'm listening to now (or in the last half-hour or so). It's noon as I'm writing this and I'm listening to Alabama Shakes-How Many More Times. This song is great! Before that I was listening to Hold On by the same band. I don't really know this band but I heard about them and right now I'm liking them A LOT.Before that it was Ryan Adams, What Sin Replaces Love.And Lucinda Williams, Blessed.
