Francis Portela's art is ugly all-round, I would've much preferred if Marguerite Sauvage had done the whole issues. She draws Faith beautiful, and the rest of the cast too, which is great to see a plus sized character get that kind of treatment.

I knew practically nothing about Faith/Zephyr before picking this up. I knew that Valient had put out a comic starring a full-figured female super-hero -- which seems as unlikely as Superman developing a tolerance for Kryptonite. So when I saw it this collection on the Library shelf, I had to grab i...

One of the supernatural beings the Nazis are using in this alternate universe take on WWII is the tenebrae (from Greek and Roman mythology for "spirits of death"). Not zombies in the usual lore, many are made from the dead Nazi soldiers and not easily killed, but not immortal either. The women of DC...

This was so worth the read. I can totally see Rebel Wilson playing Faith in a movie of the Renegades. She was so relatable, funny and plain real. Finally, a superhero that's curvy and into things real people are. She works at a Buzzfeed type social media company like so many other modern journalist,...

In this Western magical girl comic, best described as Sailor Moon meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, we skip all the origin story stuff, and are instead presented with a team of four magical girls -- Emma, Kim, Savanna, and Molly -- who have already saved the day. They previously fought and sealed awa...

Love this! I finally gave in and paid for the first single issue, and I'm so very glad I did. I can't wait until this comes out in trade! DC Bombshells gives massive love to the huge role that women played during World War II. Working in factories, running companies, playing baseball. All the thin...
What I Happen to Be Reading At the Moment
The art, the story lines, the general execution were iffy for me in all three of the mini-stories told in this issue. I'm in the Thor comics reading business because I like new Thor, and she just didn't get a fair break in this annual it seemed.
