Maria Leonard Olsen graduated from Boston College and the University of Virginia School of Law. Her work has been published by The Washington Post, The Washingtonian Magazine, Bethesda Magazine, among others. She served in the Clinton Justice Department prior to having children, and recently returned to practicing law now that her children are teenagers. "Mommy, Why's Your Skin So Brown?" is her first children's book. She is working on a non-fiction book about the new American family.
