A story about families, secrets, growing up, and making peace with the past, this novel described how two half-sisters bonded despite initial prejudice and suspicion. Some things weren't resolved satisfactorily enough (the "explanation" on how the father became the jerk of the century was especially...
I was drawn to this story because like Taisy, I have a twin brother. I was not disappointed. Among other things, I really enjoyed reading about the close relationship they shared. The book was written well and read superbly by Arielle DeLisle and Abby Craden who completely got into the characters’ p...
I was reading all the reviews of four and five stars and wondering why this book didn't affect me the way it did many of the other readers. Not that there is anything wrong with this book, it was good, a comfort read if you will and somewhat predictable. I enjoyed the character of Taisy but found t...
This was a beautiful story about a girl name Clare and a young woman named Cornelia and how they came together. Very reminiscent of Secret Life of Bees by Margaret Kidd. Those who liked it will get a similar story of a girl finding her way and then finding a family outside the traditional sense. Thr...
I was just notified that I won this book in a First Reads Giveaway. Update 10/17: I've received the book and will be reading it next. I will probably have a review up by the end of the week at latest. Update Oct. 28:As you can see it took me far longer than expected to get to this point, on page 265...

This book took a while to get going for me, but I am so glad I finished. After it got going, I really liked the flow of it and I really enjoyed almost every character.
I'm not entirely sure why I decided I wanted to read this book - I was fairly lukewarm on Love Walked In, which I felt to be a cutesy story with no real depth and mediocre prose that was trying too hard. I just really wanted a quick, easy read and this is what I ended up with. Pen, Cat, and Will me...
