Series: The Magicians #3 And the story arc is finally over. I must say that I did like Jane Chatwin's little dig when she said that "Quests were for children." It sums up a lot of these books. There's less of Quentin stupidly looking for a quest in this one though, so I rated it a bit higher.
"YOUR FATE IS NOT YET SEALED. EVEN IN THE DARKEST NIGHT, A STAR WILL SHINE, A BELL WILL CHIME, A PATH WILL BE REVEALED." This book is classified "juvenile," but I think it's the kind of book that can appeal to readers of all ages. A boy named Otto gets lost in a dark forest in Germany, and is ass...
This is book one in The Library series, about a magical library that helps spirits whose stories have been disrupted by supernatural events. After Marcus finds the key that opens the door to the library, he is confronted by a creepy old lady who demands that he "Surrender the key." Along with his f...
My absolute favorite book of this trilogy, Grossman has pulled off a true hero's journey for Quentin, while giving rich character development to the other members of this book's ensemble cast. The mature version of himself that Quentin becomes by the end of this installment feels almost like a comp...
Going back and forth between the books in this series and the TV show has been interesting for me. So far, I've watched season one, listened to the first book, watched season two, and listened to the second book. After the first book, one of the things that struck me is how much more time is cover...
AudibleGay Mystery Winner of the 29th Annual Lambda Literary AwardsI'm glad our modern eBook-readers are still not able to transmit odours. I read Revolutionary Road for the first time last year and I was deeply impressed by it. It´s a harsh and devastating look on a dysfunctional marriage and on the lives of two people, who blame each other for their own shortcomings. If you are searching for a book that feels like a gut punch while re...
One of the best ways of traveling across America is via the imagination of others. Using eight books in my TBR pile, I'm journeying from the Farallon Islands off the coast of California to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginian via Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and Kentucky, writi...
This novel was at its best in the first half, where the author painted the lives of a pioneering family. The insights into each of the flawed characters made them seem very real, and if I couldn't entirely sympathize with them all, I could at least understand their motivations and what made them tic...
