I was really impressed with this debut novel. A fairly original story, good characters, evocative setting and a plot which races along nicely. A good read.

I was really disappointed with this, especially as I enjoyed his previous book very much. The story in better hands could have been haunting and brilliant, but it ended up as a very pedestrian plod. Ok, but not great.
