O poveste extraordinara, transpusa pe marele ecran de celebrul regizor Alfred Hitchcock. Marnie, eroina cartii, este o tinara incantatoare, inteligenta si educata, plina de initiativa. Din pacate, tenacitatea sa se directioneaza spre actiuni plasate in afara legii. Ea obisnuia sa se angajeze sub nume false la diferite firme sau companii unde avea o conduita exemplara, pana reusea sa puna mana pe o suma importanta de bani, dupa care disparea.... Nici tresaririle de constiinta, nici teama de autoritati nu-i pot schimba comportamentul aberant care frizeaza patologicul. Pina intr-o zi, cand Marnie isi da seama ca in viata ei a intervenit ceva absolut deosebit care ii stopeaza caderea libera in haul dezonoarei. Personajele de factura deosebita, intrigile, elementele de suspans si ritmul alert asigura din plin succesul acestui roman psihologic.
