My latest book is just published (2016) and is another book of walks to add to my output: 'Roaming Midsomer' has 21 walks of between 4 and 6 miles in Midsomer country (Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire), each walk taking in several of the locations used in making the immensely popular murder mystery TV series. It is brilliantly illustrated with about 195 photographs by Chris Behan, the author of the very successful 'Exploring Midsomer'. My walk writing career began in 1986 when I started writing Weekend Walks for The Times newspaper and have since written walks for numerous outdoor magazines and part works and magazines including The Great Outdoors, Out and About, Trail, BBC Countryfile Magazine and Country Walking. I also review outdoor books for magazines.I have written four other books of walks, two for the AA (50 Walks in Hertfordshire and 40 Short Walks in Sussex), one for Harper Collins (Collins Rambler's Guide: Chilterns and Ridgeway) and with the noted landscape photographer John Cleare, Discovering the English Lowlands. I have also revised three volumes of the AA's 50 Walks series. In 1991 I was elected to membership of the outdoor writers' professional body, the OWPG.I have written over 40 other books for Francis Frith, WH Smith, Ottakers, and Countryside Books. These range from histories of a town like High Wycombe via historic photograph books to co writing a book on tracing the history of houses.
