Martin Lee was born and raised in New York City. His university degrees are in American History and Education. Following a decade of teaching in New York and Arizona, he returned to New York, where, ever since, he has worked as a freelance writer specializing in educational materials. He has authored more than fifty books for teachers, students and parents. Bloody Lane is his first novel and first collaboration with Matthew Fleury, his friend of more than forty years. Marty lives in Manhattan with his wife, Marcia Miller, and their one-of-a-kind dog, Gracie.Since Marty was a boy, he has always enjoyed an active and ongoing interest in 19th century history, particularly the Civil War period. Guiding "Field Marcia" and assorted interested friends, he has led multiple tours of the Antietam and Gettysburg National Battlefields and other Civil War sites. Marty has often silently walked the sunken farm road in Sharpsburg, MD, dubbed Bloody Lane after the battle of Antietam--a single day of unsurpassed carnage. His enduring fascination with that brutal September struggle led him to imagine and develop a contemporary story set on and near that hallowed ground.
