Henry's antics are even more implausible* then in Blue-Ribbon Henry, which was stretching it ever so slightly. But this is picture book world and so I'm letting that slide. Also, how great is the Man? Gruff man that he is, he has to claim to dislike the stupid cat (in favor of the dog, of course) bu...

This is one of the few Henry books that I don't actually remember reading over and over again as a child, which is a bit odd, all things considering. Maybe our library didn't own it...Or maybe because it wasn't my favorite of the series. One of the things that is great about the Henry books is tha...

Re-read.Oh, poor Katie John. Everything she touches twists around and bites her in this wonderful book about being almost-but-not-quite an adolescent. Does she really hate boys? Is she really crazy? Reading this is not unlike living through it. *squirm* Recommended.

Re-read.Katie John is a delightful kid. She's confused, conflicted and so real. The books have dated a little, but are still very worth reading.

Re-read. I love this book. Katie John c'est moi! Goofy, ham-handed, good-natured and well-meaning, she blunders her way through her 10th year in this sweetly nostalgic story. The supporting characters are a joy, too.

There were parts of this story that I really liked. I loved Henry's attitude, it struck me as being very similar to a stereotypical cat's attitude. He wants to be independent and a little aloof but clearly craves The Man's attention and approval. He can do most of the same tricks as the dog, Butt...

I enjoyed it. This was closer to the other books in the series that I liked as a kid. Henry's dislike of being laughed at and discomfort with unfamiliar surroundings were well done. I also liked that Henry was worried about going to the vet since he was in a pet carrier. I always assume cats fre...

I didn't think the illustrations were as good and the story wasn't as interesting as previous books in the series.

I loved [book: Cross-Country Cat] and [book: Hot Air Henry] when I was a kid. I always regretted giving my copies away (even if it was to family) so I decided to buy them again and found there were more books in the series. I still love The Man (note to Cormac McCarthy, you can call characters The ...
