I ended up enjoying this book. I found the three different voices a bit difficult at first. It took a while to get into a coherent narrative. But it did. Then the story came alive and I was itching to see how it all ended up. Not too soppy, but optimistic nonetheless. While it helps to like horse, w...

Didn't like it, but will try another of her books. This just seemed to be portraits of ugliness, for ugliness's sake.

An encounter between two socially disparate and incompatible women is precipitated by their separate interests in an Ayn Rand-like writer-philosopher figure, bringing their parallel histories, linked preoccupations and complementary psyches into unexpected focus, and instigating new phases in both l...

You know what'd be cool is to have a couple different editions of this to flip around in. I only have one so far. That's pathetic.
