There Your Heart Lies, Mary Gordon, author; Angela Brazil, narrator I realize that I am not as happy with this book as many readers, but I found the book to be very melodramatic and way too political in its approach toward religion. The overarching theme seemed to be to present almost every liberal ...

"THERE YOUR LIFE LIES" is a generational story that seeks to bind the past with the present. As a novel, it is well-written and easily readable. But I found it difficult to make meaningful, emotional connections to Marian Taylor, a 92 year old woman living in 2009 Rhode Island with her granddaughter...

This was a quick, easy read. I found the text to be easily accessible to those not familiar with Joan, however, it is a very broad overview. It's a good starting text with some interesting analysis for those who don't want to jump into a heavier text. There were some points where I found myself disa...

While I did not agree with everything she said, it was a very interesting book of essays and I felt like I learned and gained from this. I recommend this for every female (cis and trans) writer.

Certainly a book so packed with careful observations of the circumstances of women in society that it can be read over and over and still enlighten! The long glorious sentences are a joy to get lost in.

The Rest of Life is comprised of three novellas. They may as well be one. There is such a strong similarity in these stories of a woman, the lover she changed and the love that changed her. Which would be okay... if the stories were interesting. These were not. What makes Mary Gordon's three nove...

I love the way Woolf's sentences flow. She writes as though putting one's thoughts to paper is the easiest thing in the world. While I recognize that this book is seminal and important, it also exposes her prejudices. It makes the book a bit less pleasant to read, but her writing saves it.

I really tried to read it but it was kind of boring although the cover flap made it sound boring. I'm not a traitor to my gender!
