Mary Jane Jacob is a writer, curator, and the Executive Director of Exhibitions and Exhibition Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. A pioneer of public, site-specific, and socially engaged art, Jacob has expanded the practice and public discourse of art as a shared process through hundreds of exhibitions, site-specific and community based projects, and public programs. She has also served as the Chief Curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and Los Angeles, transcending boundaries between public/community space and the museum.
