This book is unpleasant. Very, very unpleasant. Doesn't make it any less terribly true. (For people who aren't sure what's going on: a collection of (cartoon) drawings, focusing mostly on women but other matters as well. Not a word of explanation, so be sure to turn on your brains.)
It's a great shame that this Leunig stopped creating for public display. I wonder if it is because her work is unrelentingly dark and sad without any of the moments of relief that temper her brother's work. To put that another way, did she stop because she wanted to or because we needed her to?
