Review: Mary Poppins is such a great way to introduce students imagination. This book could be used in so many ways in a classroom. Mary Poppins is a most unusual nanny to the Banks children. She uses her magic carpet bag to pull out several items that should not fit in a bag. She also does fun thin...

Mary Poppins comes as a nanny to the Banks' children. They go on adventures with her but are they real? Only Mary Poppins knows for sure. Mary Poppins is a curmudgeon. She can discipline with only a look. I liked the children. Their wide-eyed awe is on display. Every day is an adventure with...

Another Backseat Bookshelf read. Reminiscent of Paddington in that each chapter reads like a self-contained adventure. I liked some better than others. Also the use of "Red Indian" at the very end of the book was a big turnoff.

*2.5 starsI do have to say that I enjoyed the plot and the sort of nonsense which happened in it. But with that said, I didn't enjoy the characters, and that is why my rating is so low. Even though a plot can be good, if I don't like the characters I am not really going to like it in general. So I w...

It's been a while since I watched the iconic movie that was based on this book, but its a funny thing when something can be so familiar and yet so foreign. The feel of the book is what I remember the feel of the movie to be but the scenes are certainly different. It seems that they either took quite...

I must have seen the movie so many times that it's impossible to read about Mary Poppins and not have Julia's delightful face pop into my mind. I know the songs by heart and I hum them constantly..! However, the nanny in this novel wasn't so delightful. She was stern and a bit too vain for my tast...

This is just a classic. The book is way different from the movie so this would be a great example on why you should read a book before going to watch the movie so the student can create an image of their own in their head. I would create a chart that showed the similarities and differences between t...

Yikes, I don't like the new changes in GR, not at all! Why the hell did they also have to change the review box??I liked this book, it is a wonderful fantasy world, and each story was full with magic. It is very charming, also very British, and I loved the talking animals. It is, no doubt, different...

Our high school drama club put on the musical, Mary Poppins. My friend Joann, whose son, Tim, was in the production, said it was rather different from the Disney movie, albeit containing many of the same songs and somewhat the basic plot outline. So my spouse and I went to the production. We only ma...
