Born and raised just outside San Francisco, Maryam moved to Los Angeles to pursue teaching, performing and competing in Salsa and Belly Dance. She has performed with Enrique Iglesias and Tito Puente; been on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Day's of Our Lives, and Fame LA to name a few. Next on her path was television, live event hosting, and motivational speaking. You may have seen her on Caliente Telemundo, Expert Village, or in her self produced instructional dance video Salsa Fusion.Maryam has now added author to her list of credits. Her children's book, What about Daisy? is a story of a deafblind rescue dog in search of her forever home. Next to caring for the real deafblind Daisy and her three rescue siblings, Maryam's newest passion is creating a series of stories about Daisy.What about Daisy? has already been seen on NBC, KTLA, and Channel 11. Best Friends Magazine writes, "This year there was little doubt in my mind about which title to recommend as the best choice for the young children on your gift list." Blogger, She Scribes, compares What about Daisy? to greats, I'll Always Love You by Hans Wilhelm and Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. What about Daisy? can be found at Barnes & Noble and Amazon and is distributed through Baker & Taylor and Follett Library Resources. The prequel to What about Daisy?, Road to Rescue Ranch, will be released April 2012, followed by Daisy's Forever Home and Louie's Legacy to be released Christmas 2012.Maryam and Daisy have visited and inspired over 2,000 kids and adults, many of whom have special needs themselves. Together they have influenced others to believe anything is possible. Daisy is living proof.
