Maryann Corbett grew up in McLean, Virginia. She holds a doctorate in English from the University of Minnesota and is the author of five collections of poetry. Her poems, essays, and translations have appeared in more than one hundred journals in print and online, as well as several anthologies. Her poems have been finalists for Best of the Net, the Howard Nemerov Sonnet Award, the Able Muse Book Prize, and the Morton Marr Prize, and have won the Lyric Memorial Award, the Willis Barnstone Translation Prize, and the Richard Wilbur Award. She lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and has worked for the Minnesota Legislature for over thirty years. She is married to John Corbett, a teacher of statistics and mathematics, and they have two grown children.
