I am a Brazilian author and journalist specialized in inter-religious relationships, with several books and articles published in Brazilian, North-American, and European journals and publishing firms. I was born in the province of Minas Gerais, central Brazil, in 1959, and lived for a period both in London, England, and in Washington, DC, doing research for my books and articles. Now I live in São Paulo with my wife and children. I had the privilege of making some travels to Western Europe, the United States, South America, Russia, and the Islamic world, in order to contact spiritual authorities and religious authors. The photograph by the side was taken in Lisbon, Portugal, during a recent lecture about my latest book, "Men of a Single Book: Fundamentalism in Islam, in Christianity, and in modern thought" (published in the USA in October 2010 by World Wisdom). The other photograph (taken in the US in December 2009)shows authors William Stoddart and Michael Oren Fitzgerald.I am post-graduated by The George Washington University, and have a master degree in History of Religions by the Universidade de Sao Paulo. My books deal with the importance of traditional religion and spirituality for contemporary man, and are based in the "Perennial Philosophy", which means that they expose the inconsistencies and superficialities of both modernism and militant fundamentalism, in Christianity and in Islam.I was fortunate to have had the opportunity of translating to Portuguese some of the books of the contemporary metaphysician and spiritual authority Frithjof Schuon. Through this work of translating, I have learnt much about the "transcendent unity of religions", the perennial philosophy, the religio perennis, and what true mysticism and esoterism are, and could apply this invaluable knowledge Schuon expounded to my books and articles. Among my other books, "Ye Shall Know the Truth: Christianity and the Perennial Philosophy (USA: World Wisdom, 2005); "Iniciacion al Islam y al Sufismo" (Barcelona: Ediciones 29, 2004); and "Intelligence of Faith: Christianity, Islam, and Judaism" (Rio de Janeiro: Record, 2006).
