Caroline Starr Rose's May B. is an inspiring and captivating story of one young girl's heroic struggle for survival. May B. is sent to live and work for new neighbors 15 long miles away from home, but when the unthinkable happens, May B. finds herself alone in the soddy during the harsh winter month...

Such a lovely book. Poor May(Mavis). The book was in verse, so it wasn't my favourite kind of reading style, but it still was beautiful to read the story of May.Luckily May is a very strong girl and she keeps going, just fighting and trying to do her daily things even when things look bad.

A swift, sweet read -- a middle-grade novel in verse. Grab this if you loved "On The Banks of Plum Creek."

Loved the story line. I didn't want to put it down. The ending was a bit abrupt, though. Would like to have spent more time with May B.

I absolutely adored this book! It had a bit of a slow start, but once I read more of May's story, I was completely caught up in it! May is one brave, strong, and truly inspirational little girl. :D I definitely recommend this one, especially if you're a poetic verse fan! :D

I really enjoyed this story. It was like a dark Little House on the Prairie. May B is being sent to a neighbor's house fifteen miles from her own home in order to help a farmer's new wife as she settles in to prairie life. It is only supposed to be until Christmas, but to May, it feels like her f...

May B. is a fast read, but it is a little hard to get into at first. The novel-in-verse format is jarring for young readers used to the way a book is supposed to sound. That being said, it is a wonderful introduction to poetry and becomes easier to grasp as the story progresses. The story itself is s...

I enjoyed this fast read about a girl's struggle to survive after being abandoned and left to fend for herself on the prairie tense reading. I am appalled that all of the adults in life failed her, but May's stubbornness doesn't let her down.Full review soon at www.mangamaniaccafe.com
