Maya Lang was born in Queens, New York to Indian immigrant parents, grew up on Long Island, holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature, and is a rabid football fan. She wishes to assure readers that they need not have read Ulysses to read her novel.A recipient of the 2012 Bread Loaf-Rona Jaffe Foundation Scholarship in Fiction, Lang was a Finalist for Glimmer Train's Short Story Award for New Writers. Her work has appeared in VQR and Publishers Weekly. Her debut novel, The Sixteenth of June, was long listed for the 2014 Flaherty-Dunnan Prize. She lives outside of Manhattan with her husband and daughter.
