Mel Clark studied economics and math and was a school teacher in New Zealand before moving to the USA with her husband and children. Settling in California, she started her own boutique label of hand knits. For several years she was the proprietor of a knitting shop in Santa Monica, where she shared her love of design with customers and wrote her first knitting book. Her designs have been published in Vogue Knitting magazine, Interweave Knits, Yarn Magazine (Australia), The Knitter (UK) and Koigu Wool Designs.
