Melissa Kirsch is the author of The Girl's Guide (Workman, 2015), now in its sixth printing with 100,000 copies in print.She was the executive editor of the first website for teen girls and worked at Oxygen as pop culture editor and supervising producer. She has written for National Geographic Traveler, Scientific American, Nerve and Good Housekeeping, and was nominated for a James Beard Award for her work for New York magazine. She has also worked as a creative lead in advertising for R/GA and Publicis Kaplan Thaler.A recipient of fellowships from the Camargo Foundation, Château de La Napoule, Fundación Valparaíso and the MacDowell Colony, she is senior editor at TheMid.com and lives in Brooklyn, where she is working on a collection of personal essays called The Real Ramona.
