I'm a big fan of Kate DiCamillo, and this one made all of us smile. Nice to see there are new things on the horizon. As much as I enjoy reading her more complicated stories (Edward Tulane, Desperaux...) to the older kids, I enjoy reading these simpler stories to the younger crowd.

My niece checked out Mercy Watson to the Rescue from her school library today, and she suggested that we read this this afternoon. It was a good choice! Cute, well written, fun story with great, nicely fleshed out characters. The kids and I were also impressed that it was illustrated by Chris Van...

I love this toast loving pig! Her misguided owners, and the two sisters next door who have to put up with her. A very cute read!

Very silly story about a pig who loves buttered toast and the hapless humans in her life. The illustrations are adorable!
