Public sector consultant, yoga instructor, and author, Meredith McCullough works with men and women in both her professional and private life to build teams, inspire growth, and look for creative solutions to complex issues. "I have always been drawn to the notion of community and the vibrant roles that women play in making those communities come alive," says McCullough. "Based our collective experiences, my mother Karen and I have written our first book, The Seven Women Project, to encourage women of all ages and walks of life to explore the various aspects of their most authentic selves and celebrate what they find. Opening this door, we hope that women continue to recognize, challenge and ultimately support each other, as they work to build all levels of community."With over 15 experience and training in project management and program development, Meredith has worked with nonprofits, international agencies, state and local organizations and the Federal government. Recognized as a Project Management Professional (PMP), she has focused the last 10 years of her professional career on the more human side of running technology and policy projects. Her experience has introduced her to the fine art of change management, business needs and process reengineering and overall team development. At the same time, Meredith works in her Washington DC neighborhood as a yoga instructor and Director of the MindBody Studio at MINT, a locally owned and operated health club. She was first drawn to the study of yoga in an effort to balance out the stress and travel associated with her consultant lifestyle, and she has practiced with the Anusara yoga community for over eight years. A Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) since 2007, Meredith connects to the yogic invitation to participate fully and creatively in everyday life, and she insists that laughter on the mat should not only be tolerated, but also encouraged. She is grateful to her teachers for giving her a new perspective on perfection, playfulness and acceptance.Meredith's preparation for writing The Seven Women Project started when she was growing up with her entrepreneur mother, working in the backroom of the family's local chain of clothing stores in Houston, TX. Thinking she was leaving the life behind, Meredith graduated from the University of Notre Dame and then promptly moved to Santiago, Chile, where she spent over two years as a volunteer running women's groups and youth programs. She returned to Texas in 1997 and worked as a family counselor for mothers in crisis before heading to the University of Texas at Austin for advanced degrees in Pubic Affairs and Latin American Studies, with a focus on women's political participation. When her mother, Karen McCullough, started writing The Seven Women Project 10 years ago about women, success and what Karen had learned behind the dressing room doors, Meredith agreed to help out as an editor. Before long she signed on for full collaboration and took her place as co-author. Her rich experiences working with and observing women in the public and private sectors are joined with those of Karen in the area of business and public speaking to form the lens through which this book has been written.
