Merrill Markoe graduated from UC Berkeley with a masters degree in art, then went on to use her degree in the most pragmatic way possible by becoming a writer of comedy for assorted venues, including television, movies and magazines,(when there still were magazines.) Along the way she won five Emmys for Late Night with David Letterman and a Writer's Guild Award for HBO's Not Necessarily the News.These days she is STILL writing books and making short films. I read this right after Speaker For The Dead by Orson Scott Card, so I was definitely up for something lighter, and for a short while my mood and the humor of the book carried me along quite nicely.Then the characters started to get on my nerves. This is a must read for any dog lover. I have always thought that there is a grand conspiracy theory that dogs actually are planning a world take over and this just confirms it. I only hope that Markoe has another book like this for me to read soon.

I just enjoy Markoe's writing so much, it doesn't matter that I'm largely indifferent to dogs.
