Michael H. Prosser, Ph.D. University of Illinois, a founder of the academic field of intercultural communication, has taught in American, Canadian, African and Chinese universities. His website is www.michaelprosser.com and contains about 150 essays as well as Peter Zhang Long's MA thesis about his contributions to the study of intercultural communication, and information about his edited or authored books and his 1998-2004 series, "Civic Discourse for the Third Millennium" with 18 books published. He is editor or author of a dozen books in the US and China. The most recent is co-edited with Steve J. Kulich, Intercultural Perspectives on Chinese Communication (2007). He is widely cited on Baidu, Bing, Google, Yahoo www.JCscholar.com at the Wuhan University Data Base (in Chinese). A professor for 50 years, he has taught 8800 students in North America and about 2200 Chinese students in China. His most recent teaching was at the Shanghai International Studies University, 2005-09, where he is still the Chair of the International Advisory Board and Senior Co-Editor of the SISU Intercultural Institute. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies (in Asia. He has given lectures or lecture series to more than 7500 secondary and university students in China, India, Japan, and Russia. Professor Prosser has been a frequent keynoter at conferences in China and was interviewed several times on China Central TV International, Shanghai International Channel, and China Radio International.In 2005, he was featured in a Chinese language article for China Talent Semimonthly Magazine. He served as thePresident of the International Society for Intercultural Education,Training,and Research. The China Association for Intercultural Communication Studies also gave him a special award in June, 2009 for his contributions to the development of intercultural communication in China, 2001-09. He is currently listed in Marquis Who's Who in America, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Asia, and Who's Who in the World.Michael Prosser is the father of three children and has nine grandchildren. He now lives in Charlottesville, Virginia where he taught at the University of Virginia, 1972-2001 and continues to be an editor, author, and lecturer on contemporary China and its youth, globalism and globalization, intercultural and international communication and media, and the United Nations.
