Michael Cashmore-Hingley (1960 - ?) was born in Cheltenham, England. His childhood was one of wild abandon and without limits due to a complete lack of parental control. After his parents parted at the early age of four, he was left in charge of his younger brother while his father, who became their primary care giver, went out to earn a crust. Michael turned to art as a form of escape and never really turned back. After gaining a few minor O levels from Arle Comprehensive, Michael momentarily turned his back on creativity and became a domestic appliance engineer - for a time he ran a successful business of his own. But the lure of the canvas and smell of the oils was far too strong so, in September of 1983, after a year working in the publication department of his local newspaper (a little bit of history: Michael illustrated the first ever full colour cover for the Cheltenham Echo - the December 24th issue, 1988), Michael started his course in art at the Cheltenham College of Art. A year later he moved to Exeter and spent three years studying for his BA (hons) degree in graphic design at Exeter College of Art & Design - he gained his degree in July of 1988.Since leaving college his life has been one crazy ride. Michael has always had itchy feet (his doctor says it's nothing to be concerned about) and has moved from country to country in search of inspiration for his art and writings. While living in Manhattan he wrote and illustrated 'Reigning Cats and Dogs -history redrawn' which was awarded best book of cat related humour in 1998. Michael is currently working on a number of books ranging from children's titles to adult themes. Keep a look out for: Welcome to Mongo Bongo World; Crocodile Tears; Categories; Captain's Log - Sea state 3 to 5 and 50 and a Half Uses of a Used Condom. As Michael enters the twilight years of his life he plans to act in a more childlike manner in the hope that the rest of the world will still see him in a Peter Pan light...afraid of saying goodbye to this wonderful, fascinating planet we live in...damn right he is!
