This is one of Stephen King's less popular novels, but I found it very entertaining. His storytelling and character development was still amazing. His novels always take me on an incredible journey and lift me out of a reading rut when I need it.

While many of the stories are more vignettes or atmospheric character pieces than traditional narratives, Shadows & Tall Trees 2014 fits the bill of 'weird' fiction very nicely. A couple stories fell flat, but those that did work for me had a definite Rod Serling / Edgar Allen Poe feel to them. It's...

I listened to Joyland as an unabridged audio. I love carny tales and this one was a fantastic blend of carny life, murder mystery and coming of age tale all wrapped up with the quirky dialogue and turn of phrase that only Stephen King can deliver.Set back in the 1970’s, Devin is a college student wh...

Most cerebral and ligottian contribution is Padgett’s “20 Simple Steps to Ventriloquism,” which develops subtlety as a slowly dawning horror. Som...

Geology--another subject I'm not cut out for. Maybe it would have been different if the class had been taught differently, but this book was essentially useless. To be fair: it's full of pictures and diagrams, which I suppose is helpful if you're an intensely visual learner with a strong interest in...

I am now done with this book, and I have loved every moment of working out of it. The diagrams are great, and though it sometimes repeats information, it does so for a good reason, as some things apply to others, and one never knows what a teacher is and is not going to teach. I highly recommend thi...

Every time I read one of the selections in this book, I feel an empty spot. His ability to explain the world simply has never been replaced. I wish he were here.
