Michael Walker is a Los Angeles-based screenwriter, author and journalist. His new book, WHAT YOU WANT IS IN THE LIMO: ON THE ROAD WITH LED ZEPPELIN, ALICE COOPER AND THE WHO IN 1973, THE YEAR THE SIXTIES DIED AND THE MODERN ROCK STAR WAS BORN, was published July 23 by Spiegel & Grau/Random House. The Dallas-Ft. Worth Star Telegram praised it as "loud and boisterous...like a good vinyl-era single." Michael's previous book, the national bestseller, LAUREL CANYON: THE INSIDE STORY OF ROCK AND ROLL'S LEGENDARY NEIGHBORHOOD (Farrar Straus and Giroux), is in its twelfth printing and spent seven months on the Los Angeles Times Book Review's bestseller list and continues to receive worldwide acclaim. Michael currently has several film and television projects in development, including, at 20th Century Fox, his feature screenplay "Anything, Anywhere, Anytime," adapted from his Men's Vogue article about the world of cargo pilots; and the original screenplay "Hero," about a military working dog and his handler in Afghanistan, commissioned by Tony Thomopoulos's Morning Light Productions. Michael's reporting and writing about pop culture have appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, International Herald Tribune, Rolling Stone, Men's Vogue, Esquire, GQ, the Hollywood Reporter and many other national and international publications. He started his writing career at the alternative newspaper The Daily Planet and has worked as an editor at the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times.
