Michael West is a playwright and translator. He was born in Dublin in 1967.His plays include many works written in collaboration with The Corn Exchange Theatre Company, founded by Annie Ryan. Some of these works are Man of Valour, Freefall, Everyday, Dublin by Lamplight and adaptations of James Joyce's Dubliners, Nabokov's Lolita and The Seagull by Anton Chekhov.Other translations include The Marriage of Figaro by Beaumarchais, The Tender Trap (a version of La Double Inconstance by Marivaux), Molière's Dom Juan and Tartuffe, and Death and the Ploughman by Johannes von Saaz.Other original work includes two plays for younger audiences, Jack Fell Down and Forest Man and several other pieces, among them Conservatory, The Evidence of Things and Deliver The Kingdom.His work has been translated into Hungarian, German, Polish, Dutch and French. He is published by Methuen.
