I guess this would be labeled as a period drama or maybe historical realism. It follows several several people in their regular lives. A lot of the focus seems to be about the ideas of the time and changes in ideas.

Magnificent, magnificent opus but I will still admit to skipping parts and not going back to pick them up. This is one of those that was on my literary bucket list. Glad I read it but not sure if it will ever end up in the re-read pile. Let's call it 4 and half stars.
