I am an author, a sculptor and a teacher. My NEW BOOKS are at AMAZON (in books) Digging Up Mr. Posey, Dating Dracula Jr. and Pride and Prejudice and the Daughters Grimm. My three other books, The Remarkable Miss Frankenstein, The Reluctant Miss Van Helsing and The Reinvented Miss Bluebeard are now being published by Boroughs Publishing. The Remarkable Miss Frankenstein was born one night when I asked, "What if Victor Frankenstein had a niece?" The answer came to me in a blinding flash. She'd be quirky, curious, intelligent and have a penchant for misadventures and monsters. The Reluctant Miss Van Helsing came to me when I wondered if Buffy had ever hated spiders. My vampire slayer doesn't like to get dirty and cemeteries are just filled with dirt, while blood makes her queasy. THen there is Eve Bluebeard who had a wide variety of problems. First with her lineage...her father is a notorious pirate and a womanizer. Eve's had half a dozen step-mothers. Not to mention, she runs an insane asylum for supernatural creatures. Oh it's bedlam at its finest and most funniest.I started writing when I was in the third grade. In fourth grade my teacher read my scary stories to the class and told my mom I would be a writer. By middle school I was writing poetry (still do today). In 2005 my first novel, The Remarkable Miss Frankenstein, was picked as Best Historical Fiction and nominated for Best First Novel. My second book, The Reluctant Miss Van Helsing, was nominated for Most Innovative Novel. My fourth book, The Reinvented Miss Bluebeard, was nominated for Best Paranormal Romance for the year. My sixth book, The Daughters Grimm, was given a great blog review by one of Publisher's weekly prime bloggers. I'm proud of this because I write odd, quirky, funny, scary, romantic paranormal romance. It's not serious or dark, just funny and odd and sometimes profoundly sweet. Since humor is subjective...well some might laugh out loud at my books and others might want to conk me on the head. If you are looking for historical accuracy don't peek in my books. It's ironic, since I teach history. My newest books are: Dating Dracula Jr., a paranormal for young adults, but I've had adult readers say they loved it. This is a departure for me since I normally write for the adult market. Digging Up Mr. Posey, which is a funny romantic suspense, with mystery and some oddball characters. Naturally there is a surprise ending. I wrote this one with my sister and I have to admit that I wrote the basic storyline, but it was very short and my sister added over a hundred and fifty pages to it. So there might be a bit more Marilyn than Minda to this one.I have one son, one dog, one home and two cats not in the yard, but rather the house. I love to travel, love Indian food, hiking in beautiful settings and of course, reading. I also love to create new worlds and quirky characters and work on my art. I used to do the clay statues, but when I was traveling the Oregon coast I got caught up in the driftwood. Literally...but that's another story. I found wood that looked liked birds, dolphins, crosses, horses, etc. So when I was living in the high desert of Arizona, I found manzanita bushes, with great root systems and driftwood from rivers that resembled shapes of things. I got started sculpting with wood. I call it Nature's Wonders. Once I was chopping firewood and I cut a log in half and there was a sailboat inside. Amazing. I'll take a picture and post it. Probably not today since I'm creating a new story...so I'm wondering around the house talking to myself. And yes, I answer myself. Odd right?

Could not finish - well, the 2 and 3 really. 1. Viva Las Vampires by Jennifer Ashley. Boring, boring, boring. I don't know if it's because I'm over vampire stories or because the story wasn't good. 2 stars 2. Bring Out Your Dead by Katie MacAlister. I forgot about this series until there were suppos...

I pushed ahead with this one because, as I rightly surmised, there was a fun, fluffy romance under all the distracting and unnecessary word play. Once I even laughed out loud. But here's the problem:Jane smiled faintly. What an award-winning performance, she thought. Well, she could certainly say th...

Three novellas are within this book, and to my surprise, I didn't enjoy the one by KM. However, the last one by Minda Webber is a delightfully funny hoot. I'm definitely planning to look up more by this author! Her story features a zany character named Lucy, who is modeled after a certain comedic re...
