The association between goodness and beauty and between evil and ugliness is discussed and challenged throughout this fascinating who-done-it. Some of the action, clues and conclusions seem to reach a bit too far but it was a fun read and the satisfying end leaves plenty of room for speculation.

Walters’ historical novel is a stunning look at how people reacted when the Black Death came to town. Or came to country and tried to come to town, but you burned down the bridge and kept away anyone who looked sick. There is historic precedent for a similar story – see the village of Eyam in Derbys...

The first outbreaks of the Black Death in Dorset. There is crime and secrets and lies, but this is counterbalanced by great kindness and cooperation and thought. You wouldn't think it could be a hopeful kind of book, but even as the plague strikes so swiftly with such high mortality, it does free up...

I selected this book based on an online recommendation. The cover and description were appealing, so I decided to give it a shot. The author is new to me, but the era of history is not. Fourteenth century history does, however, seem to be unfamiliar to the author.Very little of the attitudes, speech...

Drakon's Past is the story of the 4th brother, Nic. I feel like I have been waiting for his story forever. Nic is very different from his brothers. He isn't a recluse like they were, he enjoys being around people, and he is a fire dragon. Nic lives in Las Vegas and discovers a woman who is attemptin...

Intrigue. Betrayal. Action-packed.Drakon’s Past is book four in the Blood of the Drakon series by N.J. Walters. Nic, I liked him. He’s thinking about the eternal sleep and has lost interest in the world. If you have kept up with the series then you know that Nic has a very sad past and believes he w...

Known for her thrillers, Minette Walters has written an enthralling novel about how the Black Death affects a small community in Dorset. There are many contrasting and interesting characters from Lords to serfs, all well-developed and contributing to the plot. This develops very nicely with intrigue...

Thanks to Atlantic Books, Allen & Unwin and to NetGalley for offering me an ARC copy of this novel that I freely chose to review. Although Minette Walters is a familiar name, I have not read any of her crime fiction, so I can’t really compare this historical novel to her previous work, but after rea...

I bought this book because it was very cheap and I had never read anything from Minette Walters before. I'm always looking for new (for me new) good writers. Two boys find the body of a young woman on a beach. Her tree-year-old child is found in a nearby village. The police start to investigate the w...

h2 style="text-align: center;">Drakon's Plunder is book 3 in the Blood of the Drakon series and while each book focuses on a separate couple, there is an overarching plot line that is best read from the beginning. So, I do suggest you read these books in order.Ezra is a water Drakon and the 3rd brot...
