Can't finish this. I didn't think there would come a day where I would say I disliked one of Gregory Maguire's novels, but it is so. This was a strange book that felt jagged and empty. I may someday attempt to finish it, but for now I'm putting it back on my shelf.

I never remember how much Maguire's writing bothers me until I stupidly pick up another of his books. Why do weird (and kinda creepy) sexual undertones appear (often smugly) in Maguire's books? What did having Bianca practically explode with menstrual blood onto the floor and the dwarves add to the ...

But one day a noble entourage makes its way up the winding slopes to the farm -- and the world comes to Monte...

She cleans their house and cooks their meals. I'd love my maid, if I had one.) She has absolutely no...

I was in the mood for some fairy tales, and I saw this on the shelf at the library.I really wanted to like it. Instead, I kept reading because I was sure it was going to get good at some point. The premise sounded interesting, but the plot was convoluted, annoying, and historically meh. There was so...

I read some other reviews where they talked about how sexual the book was in places so I didn't really know what to expect when I first picked this up but I really enjoyed it. The sexual tone was so minimal that it is hardly worth even mentioning. Maguire is a great author with a wonderful knack for...

A failed attempt to rescue an "evil slut" character, historical connections that read as forced, lazily written magic (she can survive in this spot for years and make food out of thin air because, well, because it's a magic spot), ableism in the form of equating inhuman boulder people with humans wi...
Titles are so hard to come up with...
A very interesting take on Snow White...I really enjoyed it. Also, the dwarfs are cool.

Much better than Lion. Liked the fact it referenced real historical figures.
