BBC Radio 4 dramatisation starring Philip Madoc as medieval monk and wily sleuth Brother Cadfael. After the violence of civil war in the spring, Shrewsbury has enjoyed a quiet summer and a good harvest. But, as Cadfael reflects ruefully, such a peaceful state of affairs cannot be expected to last. He's right. The trouble begins when Gervase Bonel, rich lord of the manor, proposes to sign all his property over to the Abbey. A welcome gift, but when Bonel is found poisoned, foul play is suspected somewhere along the line. Cadfael is sure that the obvious suspect is not the right one, but are his powers of detection strong enough to lead him through the maze of clues to the truth?

Series: Brother Cadfael Mysteries (#3)

I know that I previously mentioned that I had signed up for scribd. One of the big reasons that I decided to take the plunge and pay the $8.99 per month for the subscription was that the entire Brother Cadfael series was available. I read the first book, A Morbid Taste for Bones, years ago when I...
I really, really liked the book, but I LOVE Cadfael. Cadfael gets ten stars. These books may be classified as stand-alones,but I believe you should read them in order, starting with the second book. Why? Because it is important to know who each one of the characters really is, their souls, what make...
