Frustrating. That is the word i would use if i had to describe this book or the trilogy in one word. The first book showed promise of a good story, the theme and event that started it all off had potential. Now, after finishing the third book I'm left feeling... disappointed. And it is frustrating b...

Ok, I'll try not to be spoilery, but it may happen. Consider yourself warned. I just put down Monsters, and my brain is all melty, but it was alternately horrifying, self-effacing, and adrenaline-pumping. As a precaution, I never read these books while I was eating. I never read them before bed (t...

Thank you for the review copy via netgalley. The Changed are on the move. The Spared are out of time. The End…is now. So here we are at the end of the “Ashes” trilogy from Ilsa J Bick, a series I am very sad to say goodbye too as I have loved every minute. For me personally this was like a bre...

It is very rare that I am satisfied with the ending of a YA trilogy/series. At the end of Monsters I felt breathless, my chest contracting, like I'd been running a marathon. I feel slightly exhausted. I devoured this in two days, unable to put it down amid all my study, hoping and hoping that someho...

Loved Ashes so was always going to persevere to the end of the trilogy to find out what happened to everyone. The ending was satisfying. It just took so long to get there.

I really love this series in a way that I don't wholly and unreservedly love most books. I loved it at first because of its heroine, Alex, who is (that dreaded phrase) a "strong female character". And she is, but she's more than that - she's a whole person, one who even in hopeless circumstances r...

Monsters and I got off to a bit of a rocky start. Having been a year since I read Shadows and a year before that that I'd read Ashes, I'd forgotten quite a bit. Even with Ilsa's handy dandy refreshers (So You Read ASHES a Year Ago & So You Read SHADOWS a Year Ago), I still felt like there was more...

I jumped right into this after finishing Shadows. I enjoyed the last 2 books in this series and couldn't wait to see what would happen to the characters I came to love. Monsters is an action packed, edge of your seat, nail biting, exciting book, which I've come to expect from this series. Bick can te...
