Wow.Wow.I am impressed, sad, and at a lack for words. This is the mermaid book I have been looking for - full of mythology, history, bloody conflict and mystery.Well done, Elizabeth Fama. Well done indeed.

BookNook — Young Adult book reviewsI have read no other book like Monstrous Beauty. We have mermaids, ghosts, history, lineage, love, heartbreak, and a fascinating story with multiple characters whose lives, deaths, and fates are all intertwined.I love how Monstrous Beauty is told in two different ...

I have tried to read mermaid books - a new hype in today's YA market - and book after book I keep finding myself disappointed, realizing that these water beings are simply not my forte... until now. Is it the dark, twisted plot? Is it the violent, yet beautiful story? Is it the combination of local ...

Originally posted at Romance Around the Corner When I was a kid I wanted to be a mermaid. The tail, the red hair, the cute prince… Obviously Disney knew how to sell its movies. Despite my love for Disney's The Little Mermaid, I'm not sure how deep I'll get into the whole YA fiction mermaid trend. I just don't really like the inter species relationships between humans and mermaids (and really, to me, nothing is less attractive to think about than a merman). That being sai...

If you’ve been on the YA bandwagon for quite a while, mermaid tales have become the new vampire hype… or something like that. Having thought so, you probably also think you’ve already seen everything. But lo and behold, Monstrous Beauty comes into picture! Monstrous Beauty alternates between past an...

Add this one to the list of really good mermaid books! This story moves around through time and one needs to pay attention to the chapter titles which tell us when we are. The prologue introduces us to Syrenka who is a mermaid. She is fascinated with humans and spends a lot of time observing them. B...

I was hesitant about reading this book after the drama over a particular blog post this author wrote called Kill My ARC. I'd rather not talk about it, but just know that it was a blog post that offended a good number of book bloggers. A few of them decided not to read this book, and I fully support ...
