I enjoyed this - more at the beginning than the end - but it was an entertaining read.

Interesting idea...surviving the end of the world in a superstore like Walmart. In fact, that might be the best place to be. I liked that it was about a group of kids as well, but the narrator I found irritating. He alternated between what seemed like forced "kid like" ideas and thoughts and more so...

Writing-3Storyline/Plot-4Characters-3 Overall- 3.3 This was a really quick and enjoyable read. The ending definitely makes you want to continue on to the second one, which is what I plan on doing.

Since I am now reading primarily for myself and not for students, I am allowing myself to be choosy. THIS is the first book of a series that I DO want to follow. One reason ...

It was possible that Sahalia hadn’t realized she was pretty much sticking her butt in our faces. And maybe she hadn’t known just how sheer that shirt would get. But it seemed to me she wanted us to see her body. She wanted to be wanted. Just by the weakness of the storyline and the nonexistent/unexp...

Mini-review: Bargain Bin find that was much better than I expected. I thought this was going to be a fairly typical post-disaster survival story. Instead, survival barely comes into it. The kids apparently get stuck in the world's biggest Super Wal-Mart with a practically unlimited supply of food an...

I was a bit surprised by this book considering the mixed reviews it garnered on Goodreads. At first, I was somewhat timid about letting myself become absorbed in the story because I had already half decided it was probably going to be a downer. Yet, it didn’t take me too long to become completely em...
