This is one of the better Newbery books I've read in recent years. I feel like the selections now seem to focus a lot on being politically correct as opposed to good stories that instill a love of reading in children. The story within a story drew me in, and I found the characters both realistic and...

Another Newberry down. Well worthy of the award too. I think this might be my favorite one so far, even if it felt a little long. It's interesting to see that most of the winner's are historical fiction, which I don't read a whole lot of. But, I'm enjoying them and looking forward to reading more of...

I didn't realize that this was a children's book and that it won the Newberry award. I can see why it got it. I got the audio version of this book. As I was listening I kept thinking to myself, "Oh this is a 4 star book." But the ending (not a spoiler) cinched it for me and made it a 5 star book for...

It has a been a long, long time since I have read a book that made me laugh out loud one minute, and then crying the next.

Dullsville, hardly Newbery material. . .thinking it over, I think Crossing the Tracks by B. Stuber, really spoiled me for M over M. Read Crossing the Tracks, that was a book!

Lots and lots of potential, but it just never grabbed me. Never felt real or true.

This book was something borrowed, something sky blue. The story, I felt has been done before, and the "mysterious" connections were quickly identified early before the second chapter. I did not understand particularly why it was a Newberry Winner, and while the story was a combination of many "stori...

Although I like this book, I agree with some of the feedback that I am confused by the "classication" of juvenile literature that this book has been slotted into. IMHO, I think an adolescent would have a really difficult time with this book. I wonder if a better genre wouldn't simply be historical f...
