Przez chwilę wszyscy stali w wejściu i patrzyli do środka. W gabinecie paliło się światło. Przy ścianie z lewej strony stało wielkie, solidne, mahoniowe biurko. Bokiem do biurka siedział masywny mężczyzna ze zwieszoną głową. Cała jego postać przechylona była na prawą stronę fotela, a prawa ręka zwisała bezwładnie. Tuż poniżej, na dywanie, leżał mały błyszczący pistolet.
