It is known as the Discworld. It is a flat planet, supported on the backs of four elephants, who in turn stand on the back of the great turtle A'Tuin as it swims majestically through space. And it is quite possibly the funniest place in all of creation...

Death comes to us all. When he came to Mort, he offered him a job.

After being assured that being dead was not compulsory, Mort accepted. However, he soon found that romantic longings did not mix easily with the responsibilities of being Death's apprentice.

5.0 Final Thoughts: Mort
"There should be a word for that brief period just after waking when the mind is full of warm pink nothing. You lie there entirely empty of thought, except for a growing suspicion that heading towards you, like a sockful of damp sand in a nocturnal alleyway, are all the recollections you’d really ra...

Mort by Terry Pratchett Book 4 of Discworld | Book 1 of Death Death comes to Mort with an offer he can't refuse especially since being, well, dead isn't compulsory. As Death's apprentice, he'll have free board and lodging, use of the company horse, and he won't need time off for family funerals...

Instead we are following Mort, newly appointed apprentice to Death, who does a splendid job in messing up in reality, as far as reality can be messed with. Unfortunately, Mort isn´t a character that I particula...
